Shell plays a leading role in the debate about the future of energy, from the future of cities and resilience thinking through to the importance of science and technology skills in solving energy challenges. To do this, they need to engage a broad audience and provoke debate.
In collaboration with Shell, Edelman has designed and delivered Powering Progress Together events in the Netherlands since 2012. We developed narratives and themes in collaboration with Shell, identifying compelling speakers and developing event content. Crucially, we leveraged the Edelman Cloverleaf™ model to create a ‘surround sound effect’ around the event, deepening and broadening its impact through side-events, media relations, social media and digital activations to support the program goals.
The events themselves comprised moderated panel sessions, pitch-style presentations, intermezzo performances and dispatches from a roving reporter, presented across different staging areas. Discussions and content were amplified through online conversation tools, allowing live contributions. Side events for stakeholders encouraged networking and knowledge sharing.
